50 MORE BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE
WALL...
The Monte Carlo Brew Pub has recently reopened as The Pub at Monte
Carlo after extensive renovations. Serving up 50 different beers, a
new menu and new entertainment including musical duo Zowie Bowie, this
is a great place for a casual beer or to watch sporting events.
MEAL DEALS
Many of the top steak houses in Vegas are offering fantastic deals
right now. Morton's and Ruth's Chris Steak House offer specials
that aren't listed on the menu. Simply ask the waiter if there are any
specials that day and they'll happily tell you. Bear in mind that the
cut of steak you receive might be slightly smaller than normal, but
visits to steakhouses on each of our visits, I have yet to finish one.
Before you go, check out the websites
for various steak houses including the Palms - its 837 members get
discounts off meals & wine and while membership costs $25, it
currently comes with a $25-off certificate - win-win!
NEW ENTERTAINMENT - CSI: THE
EXPERIENCE - MGM Grand
If you're a fan of CSI, then you'll want to check out this new
exhibit at the MGM Grand. CSI:
The Experience gives you the opportunity to pretend to be a CSI -
Crime Scene Investigator, as you sleuth out the case.
First, an introduction from members
of the cast will welcome you and then you'll visit one of three crime
scenes. You'll then go to the crime lab, where you'll analyze evidence
at multiple stations for testing. At the end, you'll present your
findings in a Gil Grissam office recreation, answer a series of
multiple-choice questions, and then compare your results with those of
expert crime scene investigators.
MOVIES ON THE BEACH - MANDALAY BAY
If you're staying at Mandalay Bay for your visit, you can enjoy
Summer Movies & Concerts on the Beach. Blockbuster hits will be shown
at 9pm on select Friday nights now through Sep 18. Enjoy
classic comedies while floating in the wave pool, lounging on their
gorgeous beach, or while playing volleyball.
CABO WABO PREMIERES IN VEGAS THIS
FALL
Sammy Hagar's famous restaurant, Cabo Wabo Cantina, is getting set
to rock & roll at Planet Hollywood this fall. After years of being a
hit in Lake Tahoe, this trendy restaurant is stepping it up and moving
into a two-storey, 15,000 square foot restaurant & nightclub, taking
over Trader Vic's highly visible location. If you've visited
them in Cabo San Lucas, you'll recognize similar food & cocktail
menus.
NOT ON YOUR EVERYDAY LIST OF
THINGS TO SEE & DO
Well this may not be the first thing you'd think of seeing when
you hit the Las Vegas Strip, but the Venetian Hotel's restrooms in
Zeffirino Restaurant have been nominated for the
Best Restroom Award.
Luxurious restrooms feature inch-thick Carrera marble tiles to
hand-crafted wooden doors. You'll even find glass chandeliers here.
Ladies room individual stall suites include their own vanity with
glass Murano sinks on marble table tops.
You may want to be selective of any souvenir shots you take in here
though!
A TASTE OF HOME? CANADIAN ICE
ARCHITECTURE AT MINUS 5 BAR/LOUNGE
Visit the Minus5 Lounge in Mandalay Bay where you'll not only take
the bite off the heat but will also enjoy handcrafted ice sculptures.
Through the end of summer, check out the life-size "Ice Portrait" of
Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman. It took 32 hours to meticulously carve 550
pounds of Canadian ice into this amazing replica. And you thought
Madame Toussauds was good!
